a different side of ‘linsanity’
No matter where you go or what you do people are talking about Jeremy Lin. Everyone loves the story for many reasons; he went to an Ivy League school, he’s Asian or it’s because Lin is making the NY Knicks relative again. Whatever the reason, there’s a real lesson to learn from all this.
This isn’t a sports blog so I won’t bore you with all the details of how he didn’t get offers from major college programs or how he went undrafted and was cut by several NBA teams. The part of the Jeremy Lin story that’s so inspiring is how he didn’t let those setbacks and the all naysayers stop him from charging forward.
We all deal with setbacks in both business and in life. I personally relate to Jeremy’s story as I face the challenging task of finding a new full time job (previous was eliminated). People doubt you; whether you don’t fit the mold of a true NBA point guard or a potential employer not hiring you because of your lack of experience. The point to take away is that you need to continue to work hard, constantly improve, take advantage of opportunities and be ready when your number is called. Jeremy Lin has done just that and has inspired me to do the same.
